Itinerary proposed by the road cycling book guide (circuits 1 & 2)
Genuine junction of the Gaves Valley, Argelès-Gazost displays an exclusive character. Two million years ago, in the Quaternary, the region received the huge ice that came from Gavarnie, Vignemale and Balaïtous which left behind a large valley, fertile and sunny. It was a real gain for the people who lived in the mountains, whose life was organized around the two rivers of the famous mountain stream of Pau (Gave de Pau). There are still many villages related to both rivers that can be discovered by bicycle on two easy roads. You can also make a refreshing break at the shore of the Lac de Gaves
