The Marmotte Granfondo Pyrénées has everything of a Marmotte! A long distance route (163 km), difficult ascent (5500 m/D+), hors catégories passes (Tourmalet pass, Hautacam) and breathtaking sceneries.
After a successful first edition, the Marmotte Granfondo Pyrénées is already shining on the international plan, and it won’t need a long time to become famous like its Alpine big sister. This race will lead you through the most wonderful passes of Pyrenees (Tourmalet, Hourquette d’Ancizan, Aspin) and end in Hautacam, 5 times the arrival in the Tour de France.
You start from Luz-Saint-Sauveur and enjoy the greatest passes and peaks of the Pyrénées. After a loop in Luz-Saint-Sauveur to warm up, you go straight to the Tourmalet pass (2115m) by Barèges. You deal with a technical downhill on the path to Sainte Marie de Campan then comes the second difficulty of the race: la Hourquette d’Ancizan (1564m). Short rest, it is already time to face the Aspin pass (1489m) and go back to Ste Marie. Your legs are tired but you are already climbing the impressive Tourmalet. Ultimate difficulty to say the least, qualified like a hors-catégorie pass, you have to fight the 15 km to reach the peak of Hautacam (1520m) and become a Finisher.
